Raleigh, N.C. –
PPP’s newest Minnesota poll finds Hillary Clinton with consistent leads against potential Republican opponents in 2016, even when pitted against Minnesota’s native son and daughter, Tim Pawlenty and Michele Bachmann.

In fact, Clinton’s largest lead comes against Bachmann as 52% of voters say they would vote for Clinton and 35% for Bachmann. This comes as no surprise given that 56% of voters have an unfavorable opinion of Bachmann. Conversely, Pawlenty presents Clinton’s toughest challenge in Minnesota. Clinton leads Pawlenty 48% to 42%, while 43% of voters have a favorable opinion of him and 41% unfavorable.

Clinton is ahead by double digits in every other match-up. Clinton leads 49/39 against Jeb Bush, 47/37 against Chris Christie, 51/35 against Ted Cruz, 50/40 against Mike Huckabee, and 49/38 against Rand Paul. Much of Clinton’s leads in these races comes from more consistent support among Democrats, as she gets at least 89% of the Democratic vote in each case.

“Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty didn’t prove to be very strong Presidential candidates in 2012,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “And these numbers show that little has changed- they still wouldn’t be able to carry their home state today.”

Almost one year after same-sex marriage officially became legal in the state, 80% of voters say that it has had either a positive or no impact on their life. 52% of voters feel that same-sex marriage should be allowed, while 40% think that it should not. It enjoys a plurality of support among all age groups except those older than 65.

While Twins fans overwhelmingly support their manager, they aren’t very optimistic about the team’s outlook this season. 52% of Twins fans approve of manager Ron Gardenhire’s job performance and only 16% disapprove. When asked what they think the outcome of the season will be, a plurality (48%) of fans said the Twins will not make the playoffs at all.

PPP surveyed 633 registered voters from June 12th to 15th. The margin of error for the survey is +/- 3.9%. 80% of interviews for the poll were conducted over the phone with 20% interviewed over the internet to reach respondents who don’t have landline telephones.
