We'll do our final public polls of the year for 2012 in Kentucky and North Carolina this weekend. Our main focus in both states will be the Senate race so let us know what folks you'd like to see polled, as well as any other questions you think we should be asking in these two states. Thanks as always for the good suggestions!

Would you rather fight one horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses?

See who hates Dook more. UK or UNC fans. Would be interesting to see same sex marriage or legalized pot #s in KY in particular

Gay Marriage is certainly a hot topic and the last four states you've been polling there's been good reason to check out what the numbers are.
North Carolina would be an interesting place to poll about Gay Marriage because they voted for a ban on it. Right before Obama came out in favor for it and now a month after the historic win for Gay Marriage in three states. I would certainly like to see if there is any "regret".
Kentucky? Not so much need to poll about Gay Marriage there. Last time I suggested you poll about Gay Marriage in Georgia to get a sense where the topic is in even the most socially conservative states. I don't know if you'll be doing that, but Kentucky is another state to test that out with as well. If Georgia shows interesting results, maybe Kentucky would too.

I'm still really interested in same-sex marriage numbers for both states. I'm curious how public opinion is holding up in Appalachia after all of the recent developments, as well as how a do-over would fare now (after the president & NAACP's support, plus 3 states approving it by popular vote).

In Kentucky, please poll Ashley Judd against both McConnell in 2014 and Rand Paul in 2016:
http://www.politico.com/story/2012/12/ashley-judd-exploring-senate-run-84542.html
Would also be interesting to see hypothetical general election matchups if Paul runs for president in 2016 and is the nominee, Clinton vs. Paul, Cuomo vs. Paul, Biden vs. Paul.
Would love to see a 2016 GOP primary poll as well, if you're willing to do that.

In KY can you please test favorability of every statewide officeholder? Also, can you ask a generic re-elect question for McConnell? (i.e.: Would you rather McConnell or his Dem opponent?) Plus, a "Would you prefer the next governor be a Democrat or Republican" question would be insightful as well. Thanks!

For Kentucky look at a possible primary against Senator McConnell, For names try Rep. Thomas Massie and Rep. Andy Barr. Also try a 2016 GOP presidential Kitchen sink including Rand Paul.
For North Carolina, test District 7 (generic ballot) and for candidates for Senator (GOP primary),Gov. Pat McCrory, Richard Hudson, David Rouzer and Rep Renee Ellmers

Ask about gay marriage in Kentucky

Definitely include a Hillary Clinton matchup in both states to see if they are competetive in 2016. Hillary Clinton is a much better cultural fit for Kentucky than Obama was, so it could be a tossup or Clinton could be ahead there.

McConnell vs. generic Dem
McConnell vs. Alison Lundergan Grimes
McConnell vs. Ashley Judd
McConnell vs. Steve Beshear (prolly not running, but very interesting to see how the assumedly strongest Dem candidate would fare)
don't bother with Edelen, he's not running and has really low name ID. No one knows who Barzun is either.
Please ask opinion of mountaintop removal mining. Could also add an additional general support of coal question, to see if people support coal but not all of its practices.
KY passed gay marriage and civil union ban in 2004 referendum. Would be interesting to ask if there's any regret there.
And you might as well ask 2016 Q: Rand Paul vs. generic Democrat
