Our public polls for the next week will be in North Carolina and Ohio (in the field Thursday-Saturday) and Arizona and Missouri (in the field Monday-Wednesday). Obviously we'll ask about the Presidential race in all four state, the races for the Senate in Arizona, Missouri, and Ohio, and the races for Governor in Missouri and North Carolina. What else would you like for us to ask about?

What about House races? Would love to see how OH-5 is going.

What is the chance that something between now and Election Day could change your vote for President?
(a) A very good chance.
(b) A moderate chance.
(c) A small chance.
(d) Absolutely no chance.

Will you be including Jill Stein & Gary Johnson in the Presidential polls?
Posted by: Joe Klein | September 26, 2012 at 06:44 PM
Gov. Brewer approval rating
Posted by: ryan | September 26, 2012 at 06:45 PM
Any chance you could inverse Arizona and Ohio? Arizona seems more urgent and lacking, but we have so much Ohio at the moment.
Posted by: Daniel | September 26, 2012 at 06:59 PM
For the North Carolina poll (you've probably already gotten this one): Should Holden Thorp stay on as chancellor at UNC-Chapel Hill?
Posted by: Julie | September 26, 2012 at 07:00 PM
I'd suggest polling the impact of Romney's 47% comment in all four states, to get a sense of the full extent of the damage.
Also, Jan Brewer's approval ratings, and Kay Hagan's approval ratings/testing against a generic Republican to see if her Senate seat will be in danger in 2014.

AZ: Should sheriff Arpaio be relected?
All:
Did you pay any federal income tax last year?
Should Obamacare be extended significantly, left as is, shrunk significantly or repealed completely?
Should the Supreme Court decide that those same-sex couples who are legally married are entitled to receive the federal benefits given to other married couples, or should they keep the law remain as it is, which does not allow the Federal government to extend those benefits to married same-sex couples?
Posted by: jpmassar | September 26, 2012 at 07:06 PM
In Arizona, if you can drill down to county level, it would be interesting to see if Sheriff Joe is cruising to another term.

Please ask: Are you considering voting for a third party candidate?
Posted by: Fantabulizer | September 26, 2012 at 07:15 PM
For Missouri, maybe try polling on a hypothetical 2016 Senate race between Roy Blunt and Jay Nixon. Nixon is pretty popular here, will be term-limited for Governor, and almost certainly has further political ambitions (he's run for Senate twice before). Could be interesting.

How long have you lived in the state? Or were you born in state? To see impor o northern migration to Az And NC

I second the house races. OH-5 is a good start. Zimmann vs Latta. Latta must be feeling some heat for voting against the auto rescue.
Posted by: Lenorachick | September 26, 2012 at 08:46 PM
Polling the big city mayors could be interesting especially in Arizona where Dems have the shallowest bench.
Posted by: Jeff | September 26, 2012 at 09:23 PM
Poll Gary Johnson's support in the presidential preference questions.
Posted by: MO | September 26, 2012 at 09:26 PM
Although the super-duper official ballot language for Issue 2 in Ohio is now extremely, extremely long, it is still the best hope Democrats have at taking the House in 2014. This initiative is too important to not poll it.

Ask North Carolinians if the state should continue to rebuild NC12 on the Outer Banks every time it gets washed away by a storm/hurricane.
Posted by: Timothy Capwell | September 26, 2012 at 09:48 PM
For NC: Do you favor replacing the state income tax with revenue derived from gambling? Would you support a candidate who wanted to open the entire state to gambling, including table games and video poker?
Do you favor replacing traditional public schools and state supported universities with schools operated by out-of-state for-profit schools/universities?
Is it important to you that Pat McCrory has not disclosed his occupation?
Would you support Pat McCrory or any candidate if he advocated abolishing the mortgage interest deduction allowed for income taxes? Depreciation of business equipment? Cost of good sold? Charitable contributions? Deduction for educational expenses/child care? Alimony?
Would you vote for any candidate who advocated fracking regulations that did not require disclosure of the type of chemicals it injected into the ground?
would you vote for any candidate who advocated installing oil drilling platforms off the Outer Banks?
Would you vote for Walter B. Jones if you knew he appeared on a white-supremacist radio show?
Would you vote for a candidate who intended to increase tuition at state-supported universities by 30%? 20%?
Would you vote for a candidate who advocated re-segregation of public schools?
Would you vote for a candidate who advocated a complete ban on abortion with no exceptions?
Would you support a candidate who advocated abolishing our community colleges?
Would you support a candidate who advocated raising community college tuition by 40%? 30%?
Would you support a candidate who advocated converting teachers' and other state workers' pensions into a 401k rather than defined benefit pensions?
Would you support a candidate who advocated selling our state parks to private individuals?
Would you support a candidate who advocated allowing counties to charge a toll on highways and bridges? Would you support a candidate who advocated charging tolls on all ferries in the state.
would you support a candidate who advocated abolishing medicaid, social security and medicare such that those needing nursing home care or disability home care were cut off from those benefits?
Do you feel that elderly and handicapped persons needing skilled residential care should be the responsibility of their families and should not receive entitlements such as medicare, medicaid and social security disabiity?
Would you vote for Pat McCrory if he disclosed that he was currently a lobbyist for out of state charter school operators/oil drilling operators/coal mining companies/Uranium enrichment companies/the University of Phoenix or other for-profit
schools?
Would you vote for John Tedesco for Supt of Public Education if you knew that he had unsatisfied judgments against him in New Jersey, where he previously resided? Would you vote for him if you knew that he did not have a college degree? Would you vote for him if he disclosed that he was paid by for-profit private school and charter school operators?

For all 3, I'd love to see generic congressional vote, to see how well their new districts turn out to the state average.

I'd love to see polling on gay marriage in Arizona.
Posted by: Philip D. | September 26, 2012 at 11:37 PM
for republicans: are you happy with Mitt Romney as your nominee?
Posted by: Jason | September 26, 2012 at 11:56 PM
I would like to see the statewide offices in Montana and North Carolina.
Posted by: Mike | September 27, 2012 at 12:11 AM
Would love to see updated gay marriage numbers in Arizona, as well as generic congressional ballot in AZ, NC, and OH. Thanks!
Posted by: SD | September 27, 2012 at 12:32 AM
Statewide offices in Missouri and North Carolina, sorry
Posted by: Mike | September 27, 2012 at 12:40 AM
Ask about gay marriage in all four states.
Posted by: Robert_1987 | September 27, 2012 at 02:00 AM
I would love to see more on the house races as well. No one seems to be looking very closely at these so far.

Ohio -
John Boehner approval rating
Browns or Bengals?
Posted by: MetricTrout | September 27, 2012 at 09:30 AM
For NC, a question related to the tax reform debate would be interesting. Here are some suggestions:
- Support/oppose reducing state corporate and personal income taxes while extending the sales tax to include services and groceries?
- Support/oppose reducing personal income tax rates if it meant reducing or eliminating some deductions and credits?
- Support/oppose legalizing and taxing video poker?
- Support/oppose reducing state corporate and personal income taxes if it meant higher tuition at community colleges and public universities?

In Ohio Poll the Mandel - Brown senate race
Posted by: Ian Lindley | September 27, 2012 at 10:56 AM
Since Gravis Marketing has Gary Johnson at 10.3% in Ohio, I think it is imperitave you include him, as he clearly affects the race. And as he was recently polling at 6% nationally according to JZ Analytics, it would seem reasonable that any reputable polling company should include him.
Posted by: Lucas | September 27, 2012 at 11:11 AM
In Missouri - the cigarette tax, local control for St. Louis Police Department, changes to nonpartisan court plan.
Posted by: Kevin | September 27, 2012 at 11:13 AM
Ask about immigration in Arizona!
Posted by: Elvis | September 27, 2012 at 12:06 PM
Ohio Issue 2 (legislative redistricting) should get polled. Another good question for Ohio is support/opposition for the reduced early voting hours this year.
Sherriff Joe and immigration would be good topics for Arizona.
Posted by: Froggy | September 27, 2012 at 12:56 PM
How about polling Alaska at some point? Obama campaign thought he had a shot to win Alaska in 2008 before Palin.
Posted by: jpmassar | September 27, 2012 at 01:18 PM
For Missouri Senate: Is it more important to you that your senator favor abortion rights or the repeal of the health care law?
Posted by: Tim Barnhart | September 27, 2012 at 01:44 PM
Better phrasing of MO SEN question: Would you prefer the candidate who supports both abortion rights and the President's health care act or the candidate who opposes abortion rights and would repeal the health care act?
Posted by: Tim Barnhart | September 27, 2012 at 01:47 PM
Agreed - would love to see South Carolina and North Dakota, plus Indiana
Posted by: mfeinberg805 | September 27, 2012 at 05:34 PM
Well, if you really want to get meta, you could ask voters if they think the pollsters are deliberately "skewing" the results to help Obama. I'm actually curious to know how widely that delusion is shared among Republicans.
Posted by: Peter Principle | September 27, 2012 at 09:02 PM
Some data on the house races would be nice as well. Granted the only one in MO that is at all interesting is the 4th, but it hasn't yet been polled at all, as far as I'm aware.

In addition to the standard numbers for NC governor, I'd love to see a straight name recognition question for Dalton vs. McCrory. Has Dalton's name recognition improved at all over the last few months? Thanks!

Add Jill Stein to the races, it is not fair to add Johnson and not Stein. In Arizona please add Jill Stein with Gary Johnson, please.

Questions to gauge the general philosophical outlook of the electorate:
(1) Which general approach would you favor to reform Medicare: (a) government panels of experts decide which benefits to cut to control costs or (b) individuals choose from among competing public and private plans with different costs and benefits?
(2) Which is more important to you: (a) government not interfere with your ability to pursue your own happiness or (b) government provide a minimum level of economic well-being for the most needy?
(3) Which do you think will make the most positive economic impact for the middle class: (a) creating a favorable business environment so that businesses will hire more workers or (b) raising taxes on businesses and wealthy individuals to pay for more middle class entitlements from the government?
One question on how voters view Mitt Romney's business success:
In thinking about Mitt Romney's successful record as a businessman, do you believe that his successful business career: (a) demonstrates his ability to get things done and to understand the private sector or (b) made him too wealthy to effectively help the middle class?

In North Carolina. Are you a native North Carolinian? Do you consider yourself southern? What is likely voter preference of those who say no?

I really like the question "Who do you trust to handle an unexpected emergency?"
