It's false to say that the GOP base has little regard for Rick Perry. He is held in the highest esteem by Texas Republicans, who are supporting Ted Cruz because of his positions vice those of David Dewhurst. We appreciate Governor Perry's loyalty to his Lieutenant Governor, and in most elections, Dewhurst's positions would be conservative enough that, with the Governor's endorsement, Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst would easily be elected. But in these times, "conservative enough" is not sufficient. But let's not chalk up Cruz's win to a lack of appreciation of the Governor. He is still extremely well regarded and influential.

Polling may show Dewhurst is ahead with seniors, but as a senior-age 73-I early voted for Cruz. I love the guy, and have waited a very long time for someone to come along and speak my language.I don't doubt for a minute that Cruz will become very influential within the Republican party, and Like it or not the Republican establishment had better get ready for a strong dose of Tea Party reality. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

I will vote for any "tea party " candidate because of the establishment GOP that need to wake up or get out. We got a great new batch of "freshman" in the 2010 election and we need to keep it going. We need to turn this party around and beat the hell out of the Obama Adm & all of the liberals that have gotten their way for too long. Congratulations to Ted Cruz, and I don't even live in Texas but followed his run. Hooray for the "grass roots grooup".
