There's a lot more Steelers fans than Eagles ones in Pennsylvania- and they're also a lot happier with their current management.
51% of Pennsylvania voters say they're Steelers fans to only 29% who side with the Eagles. African Americans prefer the Eagles 47-38, but beyond that every group we track by ideology, gender, party, race, and age sides with the Steelers.
He may not have won a playoff game this year but Steelers fans are still overwhelmingly happy with coach Mike Tomlin. 75% approve of the job he's doing to 10% who disapprove. Meanwhile Eagles fans are pretty divided following their disappointing season. Only 40% think that Andy Reid's doing a good job to 34% who give him poor marks.
The scandals of the last year have done nothing to hurt Penn State's status as the overwhelming favorite of college sports fans in the state. 45% say they're fans of the Nittany Lions to 16% for Pitt, 6% for Temple, and 3% for Villanova.
Pitt fans are mostly taking a wait and see approach on their new coach. 60% have no opinion on the Paul Chryst hire, but those who do have one are overwhelmingly positive: 36% approve of his selection to only 4% who disapprove. Only 8% of fans have a favorable opinion of former coach Todd Graham. 23% view him negatively and 69% don't have an opinion either way. He evidently wasn't around long enough to make an impression on most people.
64% of Pennsylvanians have a favorable opinion of Joe Paterno to only 15% with a negative one. Those numbers are up from a 51/28 spread in November and suggest that at least in Pennsylvania the good memories of Paterno will outlive the bad ones.
