John McCain doesn't want to be seen as a maverick any more and it looks like he's getting his wish with Arizona voters. We find that only 28% of people in the state think that he is an 'independent voice for Arizona' while 55% believe that he's a 'partisan voice for national Republicans' with 17% not sure.
What impact is that having on his approval numbers and reelection prospects? We'll have Arizona Senate numbers tomorrow, and we find Democrats with a better chance in that race than other recent polling has suggested. Stay tuned...

Im hoping that Latinos will realize that the GOP, including John McCain, is the party of Old White Men. I mean angry old white men. The Democratic party is the party of fairness, law, justice, equality and human rights. Lets hope Hayworth wins the primary and Glassman wins the general. That would be some change I can believe in!

The Republican is still the favorite, whether it is McCain or Hayworth. Arizona will not support someone who supports Obamacare, open borders, and cap-and-tax.

Could both senate seats of the 2008 nominees be filled with members of the opposite party? Could Republicans be denied the senate because their 2008 nominee lost?

As PPPs AZ Senate poll shows hispanics are just as likely to prefer Hayworth over Glassman as they are to prefer McCain over Glassman. It is actually among whites and other (not among hispanics) that Hayworth is less of a strong general election candidate.

I know Glassman from childhood. Hes a nice guy, and though Im a Republican, Id be pretty worried right now if I were Hayworth. Arizona is a lot more like New Mexico than it is like Utah, and they definitely elect plenty of state-wide Dems. If Glassman takes the seat, its a huge unforced error on the GOPs part.
